What is the duration of the Professional Chef Diploma? expand_more
The Diploma in Professional Chef is a 12-month programme (as published on our Diploma Programme page). For internship, students may choose a hotel, restaurant, or catering outlet from the panel of industrial partners locally or internationally.

Admissions

Do I need prior culinary experience to apply? add
Foundation level: PM3 or working experience, age 16 and above. Diploma level: after Form 5 / school leaving certificate / SPM / UEC, age 17 and above.
What are the application deadlines for the next intake? add
Yearly intakes are in January, April, July and October. We can accept ad hoc intakes as well. Contact us for enrolment and campus information, and confirm the latest dates for your chosen programme before you apply.
Is there an age limit for prospective students? add
Yes: foundation routes from age 16 and above; diploma routes from age 17 and above, as stated on our FAQ.

Recognition

The diploma by City & Guild (UK London) is widely accepted by industry worldwide. Graduates of the Diploma in Professional Chefs hold roles such as Executive Sous Chef and Food & Beverage Manager, with many employed globally.

Job readiness & pathways

We prepare graduates to be job ready—employment is not guaranteed. Internships are selected from our panel of industrial partners (local or international). Diploma students may also access added value such as Penang Chefs Association membership, a RAPID bus pass, and student vouchers, subject to terms and conditions.
